Our Vision at Flywheel is to be the premier independent Home Builder / Renovation Consultant.

Our Mission at Flywheel is to help our clients maximize their time and savings on the next building project.

Flywheel was created to help you avoid the pitfalls associated with everything from planning to permits to construction. From one-room renovations to building your dream home, we will impart our knowledge from years of experience and mentor our clients through their projects.

From architectural design to general construction to plan review and building inspections, Ken has experienced it all from all angles.  He has developed his skills through education and practice in codes, bylaws and environmental regulations, heating and ventilation, plumbing, construction management, conflict resolution and is fully certified with the Building Officials Association of British Columbia as Building Code Qualified (BCQ).

November 2007 - Ken Kunka is now registered as a Certified Member in the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC)

Ken is currently a member of the Canadian Green Building Council and is working toward LEED certification.

 

Why Flywheel

People often ask why Flywheel as a business name when it has nothing to do with machinery. Well when I think about the years spent within the construction industry as a designer, construction worker and municipal inspector I have come to see the industry as one huge cumbersome machine. The one major factor in the demise of most building projects is lack of momentum. When you look at a building project there are tens if not hundreds of different components spinning or grinding at different speeds lunging and creeking it's way towards the end goal. When I read this line in Jim Collins "Good to Great" book on how compaines make the jump from being good to great, I knew that was the key.

Flywheels are used to create and maintain momentum. Lack of forward thinking and momentum is the killer in most building projects. That is why you need a Flywheel to keep things going.
